Rev. Dr. Joseph Bryant, Jr. has been the visionary and leader of the Calvary Hill Community Church in San Francisco since 1996. Called to the pastorate at the tender age of 26, Pastor Bryant transformed an aging, traditional congregation into a thriving, multi-generational, Kingdom and Community Service entity, impacting the lives of thousands with multiple outreaches and services. Dr. Bryant also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Hill Social Services, which facilitates partnerships and community programs in technology, education, job training, senior support and family resources, providing Total Life Services for Total Life Success. In 2016, Dr. Bryant was featured in USA Today for leading the congregation in the development of Faith and Technology Programs through its collaborations with multiple Silicon Valley Companies.
Dr. Bryant is also the National Sports Director for Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, organizing events and engagements with current and retired athletes, local sports programs, and serving as a liaison to the NCAA, NFL, NBA, NCAA and Major League Baseball. He is Co-Director of the PUSHTECH 2020 Silicon Valley Diversity Project, assisting in the development of strategic partnerships, pipelines and access to opportunities within the tech sector for underrepresented communities. Dr. Bryant helped create the SPORTSTECH & FAITHTECH programs within the PUSHTECH 2020 platform, both of which are being implemented around the country to reach targeted communities and bridge the digital divide. As a result, in 2018 Dr. Bryant was named one of the Top 10 Champions of Global Diversity by Diversity Global Magazine for his influence and impact within the Sports Industry, Faith Community and Youth Empowerment through Technology.
Since 1999, Dr. Bryant has served as a life coach, consultant, business advisor and spiritual mentor to professional teams, athletes and their families. Known to many in the athletic world as “The Players Pastor,” he specializes in providing confidential Life Management services, including post-career and retirement transition planning, business development, community engagement and assistance in creating what he calls a GAME PLAN for Success. Dr. Bryant is also the founder of PROSPEAK, a network of current and former athletes committed to using their platform to influence the lives of others through motivational speaking, mentoring, personal development and social impact. Finally, he is also Founder of The GOOD NEWS Foundation, a community non-profit utilized to assist athletes and other high-level professionals in providing resources, services, experiences and opportunities for the greater good. These enterprises provide individuals with various avenues of engagement with local and national corporations, vision assessment and implementation, event management, network development and business expansion.
Dr. Bryant is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Sociology. He holds a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential from Patten Christian College, a Masters of Theological Studies (M.T.S) from Golden Gate Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree (D. Min) from St. Thomas Christian University. He is the author of two books: It’s Work, But It’s Worth It, a marriage study guide; and Family Matters: Encouraging Healthy People and Happy Families.
Above all else, Dr. Bryant values his wonderful family: his wife Kelly and their two children, Josiah Christopher and Joi Christina. They are the joy of his heart and enjoy a wonderful life in the San Francisco Bay Area.
