The Coach

Rev.  Dr. Joseph Bryant, Jr. has been the visionary and leader of the Calvary  Hill Community Church in San Francisco since 1996. Called to the  pastorate at the tender age of 26, Pastor Bryant transformed an aging,  traditional congregation into a thriving, multi-generational, Kingdom  and Community Service entity, impacting the lives of thousands with  multiple outreaches and services. Dr. Bryant also serves as President  and Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Hill Social Services, which  facilitates partnerships and community programs in technology,  education, job training, senior support and family resources, providing Total Life Services for Total Life Success.   In 2016, Dr. Bryant was featured in USA Today for leading the  congregation in the development of Faith and Technology Programs through  its collaborations with multiple Silicon Valley Companies.

Dr.  Bryant is also the National Sports Director for Rev. Jesse Jackson and  the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, organizing events and engagements with  current and retired athletes, local sports programs, and serving as a  liaison to the NCAA, NFL, NBA, NCAA and Major League Baseball. He is  Co-Director of the PUSHTECH 2020 Silicon Valley Diversity Project,  assisting in the development of strategic partnerships, pipelines and  access to opportunities within the tech sector for underrepresented  communities. Dr. Bryant helped create the SPORTSTECH & FAITHTECH  programs within the PUSHTECH 2020 platform, both of which are being  implemented around the country to reach targeted communities and bridge  the digital divide. As a result, in 2018 Dr. Bryant was named one of the  Top 10 Champions of Global Diversity by Diversity Global Magazine for  his influence and impact within the Sports Industry, Faith Community and  Youth Empowerment through Technology.

Since  1999, Dr. Bryant has served as a life coach, consultant, business  advisor and spiritual mentor to professional teams, athletes and their  families. Known to many in the athletic world as “The Players Pastor,” he  specializes in providing confidential Life Management services,  including post-career and retirement transition planning, business  development, community engagement and assistance in creating what he  calls a GAME PLAN for Success. Dr. Bryant is also the founder of  PROSPEAK, a network of current and former athletes committed to using  their platform to influence the lives of others through motivational  speaking, mentoring, personal development and social impact. Finally, he  is also Founder of The GOOD NEWS Foundation, a community non-profit  utilized to assist athletes and other high-level professionals in  providing resources, services, experiences and opportunities for the  greater good. These enterprises provide individuals with various avenues  of engagement with local and national corporations, vision assessment  and implementation, event management, network development and business  expansion.

Dr.  Bryant is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a  Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Sociology. He holds a Multiple-Subject  Teaching Credential from Patten Christian College, a Masters of  Theological Studies (M.T.S) from Golden Gate Seminary, and a Doctor of  Ministry Degree (D. Min) from St. Thomas Christian University. He is the  author of two books: It’s Work, But It’s Worth It, a marriage study guide; and Family Matters: Encouraging Healthy People and Happy Families.

Above  all else, Dr. Bryant values his wonderful family: his wife Kelly and  their two children, Josiah Christopher and Joi Christina. They are the  joy of his heart and enjoy a wonderful life in the San Francisco Bay  Area.
